Winter Wedding Hair Trend Predictions from Alex Thaddeus

From classic updos to sleek, elegant buns, this year has been all things bridal. Alex Thaddeus of Alex Thaddeus Hairdressing shares her predictions for the hair trends that will define this winter’s weddings.

Bride having a relaxed updo styled on her wedding morning

Wedding hair looks best when it’s timeless – whether that’s a statement style finished with pearls or beautiful boho waves. The most popular looks shift ever so slightly with the seasons, so how do you choose the one that’s right for you?

“It’s always a good idea to do your research before meeting a stylist for a trial, so you have an idea of what to ask,” says Alex. “This year we’re seeing a rise in effortless, luxurious hair looks, with bold natural hair colours complementing the wedding styles.”

Updo with Loose Face-Framing

“An updo is a timeless, defining wedding hairstyle. This winter I’m predicting more of a modern take: a relaxed, undone version of the classic.”

“Loose face-framing pieces and tousled texture create an elegant yet effortless, lived-in look. It only gets better as the day goes on, because it embraces the strands that naturally fall loose. It’s perfect for brides who want something natural and romantic with a carefree feel.”

Hair Pearls

“Hair pearls are showing no signs of leaving this winter. This elegant accessory elevates any style and creates a feeling of effortless luxury. It’s versatile on all hair lengths – simply weave pearl beads into a styled or natural look.”

“My personal favourite is pearls woven along the parting, which adds sophistication and luxury in a unique way. It’s ideal for a bride who wants to subtly add something extra to her wedding look.”

The Sleek Bun

“The sleek bun is becoming a staple wedding look. With its striking, clean silhouette, the hair is pulled completely back to draw attention to the face, creating a sophisticated, elegant finish.”

“One variation I predict will be big this year is the slicked-back low bun. It relies on a smooth, glossy, wet-look finish and is perfect for anyone who wants to keep their hair off their face.”

Alex’s Top Tip

“My biggest tip for planning your winter wedding hair is to book a trial with your stylist and iron out the details ahead of the big day. A stylist wants to make your hair dreams come true – tell them the kind of style you love, and they’ll take it from there.”
